FAQ

What is the difference between a metal-ceramic crown and a zirconia crown?

A metal-ceramic crown has a metal cap covered with ceramic. Metal-ceramic crowns are not suitable for everyone, because the biocompatibility of metal with the human body is not perfect. Zirconia crown is made of zirconium dioxide by milling. Compared to a metal-ceramic crown, a zirconia crown looks more aesthetic, is hypoallergenic, and imitates the dental tissue as accurately as possible.

Can I get implant-supported crown in your clinic? Which one do you offer?

Sure, we offer our patients different types of dental implant- supported crowns. For this purpose, we use metal-ceramic, ceramic, or zirconium crowns on cement or screw-retained fixation. The choice of the crown type depends on the individual clinical situation in the oral cavity.

How long does it take to produce a crown?

There are different types of crowns that take an average of 5-10 working days to produce.

Why does the doctor suggest me a ceramic onlay and not a filling?

As the onlay is manufactured by the technician individually for the particular patient, taking into account all anatomical features. It has a number of advantages over composite restorations, namely: made of non-shrink ceramic, more aesthetic than a filling, withstands strong chewing loads (no chipping), hypoallergenic, colorfast and natural-looking.

What types of veneers do you offer?

We offer patients two types of veneers: ceramic veneers (E-Max Press) and zirconia veneers (E-Max CAD). The doctor will help you to decide on the type of veneers after the preliminary examination.

Before the veneer’s placement, the doctor performs a complete oral diagnosis and professional hygiene. If necessary, the doctor cleanses the patient’s mouth and eliminates all related dental diseases. Veneers are placed only if teeth are clean and healthy!

How much tooth enamel is removed for veener?

Everything is very individual and depends on the result you want to get. On average, around 0.2 to 0.3 mm of tooth structure should be cut to place the veneer.

If the problem is purely “external” – a crooked edge of the tooth, stains, or you just don’t like its shape – then it will be enough to remove a thin layer of the front tooth surface to install the veneer.

If the tooth has already been restored and has caries, you must first treat the decay and replace the old restoration, and only then install the veneer.

I do not want to change all my teeth, just one with an old filling. Can I get a single tooth veneer?

You can get a single veneer and make it as similar as possible to neighboring teeth in color and shape. However, the best option is to install veneers on the six front teeth. Sometimes four veneers are enough.  Our team of technicians and dentists will work with you to develop the best treatment plan that suits your unique needs.

Can І fix crooked teeth with veneers?

It depends on the clinical situation of each patient. If both your teeth and bite are healthy, and you have minor crookedness or misalignment, you are able to use veneers. Still, if the teeth are severely crooked, then you should first have orthodontic treatment (wear braces or aligners). Severely misaligned teeth may push against each other, creating higher risks of cracking or chipping your veneers.

You have to understand; veneers hide orthodontic problems but do not change the position of teeth. Therefore, it is better to consult with an orthodontist first.

How long do crowns and veneers last?

It all depends on the patient, his home hygiene and the frequency of visits to the dentist for regular check-ups and professional hygiene. On average, with proper care, veneers and crowns last 7-15 years. However, neglecting hygiene rules and smoking will reduce the lifespan.
